Alternatives to current weight loss pharmaceuticals

Weight loss pharmaceuticals are all the rage right now.

It is no doubt that you have heard of semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) and perhaps read many of the articles, social media posts, and even seen the recent documentary. While we champion medical freedoms here at Soleil and believe every medical choice should be an individual one, we thought we would take some time to talk about more natural weight loss options that could be good for you!

As always, this post is not medical advice. If you are interested in learning more about these options, schedule a consultation to discuss!

Based upon my time utilizing IV nutrients in practice, I have had the opportunity to see how these nutrients impact my patients. It is in this way that I have been able to formulate various protocols, including one that helps you to achieve your optimal weight. A combination of NAD and MICM injections is one such protocol.

Are you familiar with NAD+

At some point in one of your science classes you probably learned about something called ATP, it is the energy currency of the body; and if you don’t remember that, then surely you remember “the powerhouse of the cell,” the mitochondria which is responsible for making that ATP. There is this whole dynamic system to generate this energy within the body cultivated from our food.

There are many enzymes involved in the creation of energy from our food, one of which being NAD+, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. It is because of it’s involvement in energy production that NAD+ is responsible for so many things:

  • Increased energy: it will help you get up and go, and accomplish your exercise routine

  • Anti-aging: with your new found weight loss, you will look good doing it!

  • Improving cognition/decrease brain fog

  • Increasing metabolism: along with a good nutritional plan, a boost to your metabolism will help the weight come off

  • Increase cellular function: with NAD+ use, we are improving at a cellular level. Having good cellular function will ensure strong metabolic health

  • Regenerates glutathione: this will help to combat oxidative stress and inflammation, both of which are known mechanisms in which we hold on to weight

As of late, research is showing promise for NAD’s use in the treatment of addiction. Binge eating and over consumption of “hyper palatable” foods can create similar reward systems and withdrawal symptoms such as those found in substance abuse. Raising NAD+ levels can help manage and treat addictive behavior and reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms

…and MICM?

Methionine, Inositol, Choline are known as lipotropic agents, which is just fancy word for fat burning.

  • Methionine works to prevent excess fat buildup in the liver and body.

  • Inositol aids in the metabolism of fats and helps to reduce blood cholesterol. It also participates in the action of serotonin production.

  • Choline supports the health of the liver in its processing and excretion of chemical waste within the body. It is required for the transport and metabolism of fats and cholesterol within the body which is important for the healthy support of the endocrine, cardiovascular and hepatic (liver) system.

  • Methylcobalamin, or B12, which is a critical B vitamin that is not produced by the human body. B12 helps to aid in the growth of healthy red blood cells, nerve cells and proteins, and it functions in the metabolism of macronutrients including carbs and fats.

Everyone is an individual and your weight loss journey is not always on a singular trajectory. Sustainable and realistic weight loss is noted to be 1-3 pounds weekly. Healthy weight loss can only be achieved with nutrition consultation, regular exercise and addressing the need for lifestyle changes. NAD+ and MICM shots are merely natural tools that can help you to achieve these goals.
