Nutrients for Cardiovascular Health

February is the American Heart Health month so it is only appropriate that we discuss some ways the IV and injectable nutrients can help keep your heart healthy!

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA): Oxidative stress is defined at the imbalance between reactive oxygen species and antioxidants in the body. Oxidative stress is known to play an important role in the development of many cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, oxidative stress increases during the aging process. Oxidative stress can damage the blood vessels leading to the development of atherosclerosis, improper blood circulation and inflammation. Supplementing with a strong antioxidant such as alpha lipoic acid is believed to be beneficial in reducing oxidative stress, thus reducing potential illnesses of the cardiovascular system. Interested in receiving ALA? Alpha lipoic acid can be given as a 1mL (which equals 25mg) subcutaneous injections daily for a 30-day cycle or as an infusion with 250mg in normal saline.

Methionine/Inositol/Choline (MIC): MIC shots or injections are all the rage right now! Being marketed as the “Skinny Shot”. These nutrients are lipotropic agents and help to prevent excess fat buildup in the liver and the body. MIC aids in the metabolism of fats and helps to reduce blood cholesterol. These shots help the liver to process and excrete chemical waste within the body. And helps to support the endocrine, cardiovascular and hepatic systems. MIC shots are given in conjunction with B12 for increased energy. Here at Soleil, we are very particular in the compounding pharmacies we use, and how we have our specific nutrients compounded. We boast specifically using methylcobalamin with our MIC shots, resulting in the illustrious MICM shot (the last “M” for methylcobalamin). MICM shots can be given as intramuscular or subcutaneous injections. MICM shots may help you achieve some of your weight loss goals, which in turns help to support your cardiovascular system!

Ubiquinol (CoQ10): CoQ10 is integral in helping to generate energy in your cells. It is involved in making ATP which helps with energy transfer within cells. It is also crucial in its role as an antioxidant and helps to protect cells from oxidative damage. Some research has shown that CoQ10 may help with heart disease, infertility, reducing headaches/migraines, exercise performance and endurance, and diabetes. Here at Soleil, our CoQ10 injections are compounded with MCT oil. No castor oil, corn oil, or grapeseed oil here! We always try to practice what we preach and choosing to compound with MCT oil keeps your inflammatory load down, thus continuing to support your heart health! CoQ10 is given as an intramuscular injection.
